Final project- mix media (digital illustration)

The final projet is done using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Krita.

The researcher chose 3 images from the photos taken, and traced back in digital form. Moodboard colours are added later. All the images are done in A3 size with 300 pixels.

Final works:

The tents
Going through the night
Market cook

From this activity, I am able to explore different kind of styles, and skills to produce the final works. Different software are used to produce one work, realises me there are more softwares out there can be used to make the digital art better.

Act out video for timing reference

From this activity, I learned to do act out to determine the timing for the animation.

Production phase of comics

Tracing the hand drawn panel scene in Adobe Illustrator with pen tool and addition of colours:

Size: A4 size

Progress:

Hand-drawn images are either photographed or scanned and transmitted to the computer to be traced in Adobe Illustrator for the production of the comic digitally.

Sometimes different layers are used to separate background with the front objects.

Words are added later after done with tracing and adding of colours. Bubbles are designed and given white colour. Font format is Book Antiqua and size around 8-9 pt.

The speech bubbles added should be starting from left to right or up to down  to not confuse the reader.

The design of cover page is sketched and designed in AI. Krita is used to add enhancement for the entire comics for examples, adding luminiscent and shadows for the illustartions.

Figure 14: Designing comic cover page

The font is Blackrose. The font are later applied 'create outline'. This is done so that it will be no more read as font but rather vector.

From this activity, I learned to do a simple comic from preproduction phase to production using digital form.

Adobe After Effects Tutorials

I learned about using the important basic functions available in Adobe After Effects. First open a new project and set the composition for the animation. The composition is HDTV 25 with 1280x 720 px with 25 frames per second. (Mr Fandi, 2017)

I learned to make a basic simple animation using the tool available in AE. I drawn a rectangle tool with black as the background and the star tool as the object. Next, I go to the below composition box and clicked the polystar 1 and then clicked the transform. The transform link will give many options that can be given to the star. They are, rotation, scale, position, anchor point and opacity. So, I was experimenting on them for all the stars I made. (Mr Fandi, 2017)

Figure 1: AE

Figure 2: Transform link and its options.

Rotation allows the object to rotate. Scaling will reduce or increase the size. Opacity will give the transparency for the object. Anchor point set the centre point of an object either to rotate or move in a certain locus. Position allows the movement of the object.

Before setting the diamond points in the timeline, click on the time vary stop watch to enable the keyframes. and later set the animation that wanted to do.

After doing it render the video into MOV. FLV or MP4 and etc so that it can be viewed in media players.

Duik is another tool that can be plugged in this AE to enable the bones for a moving object like a human walking. The bones are used to move the arms and legs.

My basic example of animation video that I did:
