Game 2: Fireboy and Watergirl

Introduction

This 2D mini game is developed by Oslo Albert and distributed by miniclip.com and Armor Games company (fireboynwatergirl.com, 2017). Genre of this game is combination of strategy (solving problems) and platform in just one 2d view.

Storyline

Fireboy and watergirl find themselves in  a mysterious temple where they have to solve the puzzles and same time moving towards the door to finish a level. Watergirl only can collect blue diamond and walk through water (water immune), meanwhile fireboy only can collect red diamonds and walk through fire (fire immune). Fireboy will die if fall inside water since fire extinguishes in water and the same goes for watergirl. They must avoid obstacles and work together (on lever, rope) to finally exit the temple through the respective doors.

Character Design

Fireboy - The face of the fireboy has the fire/ flame shape, body is small and human- like compared to face. He has hair like spikes and yellow eyes. The whole body is red in colour. He also has a red aura around the body.

Watergirl - The face of the watergirl has water shape. (droplet) She has blue aura around her blue body.



Theme and background design:

There are many series (Forest temple, Ice temple, Crsytal temple and etc.), one of it has forest theme.

Environment design:

Forest theme that has ground and green leaves and bricks.

Obstacle design: Water for fireboy, Fire for watergirl, Green water for both players

Object design: (may differs according to levels)

Red and blue diamonds, door that has male and female signs on it, Lever, pulley, elevator, buttons and etc.

Play keys: 

For fireboy: Arrow keys: left, right, up and down
for waterfirl: W,S,A,D

Levels:

There are 32 levels in this forest series and every clearance of certain level will unlock the next level connected to it.


Level 1:

Object design: Yellow Lever to elevate the lift, Pink buttons that one has to step on to open the door


Level 2:

Object design: Fan that floats the player, male and female doors


Level 3:

Object design: Wood trunk, chain, White buttons, yellow buttons


Other levels

Object design: See-saw, square block, Fan, door, platform that fixed on walls



Achivement:

How many gold collected at each level and given rank. Time to finish this level also displayed.



 Game experience:

This game was brain stimulating as the player needs to move both the character and interact with each other to solve the levels. The colour use is bright and eye pleasing. The storyline is good and has moral value that fireboy is completely a different nature compared to watergirl, yet they cooperate together to solve the problems and finally move into the doors to escape from the temple.
