From this research, I found that found objects are characterized as an artwork after manipulated, modified, assembled back or deconstruct and construct back as an art. Found objects are found in Dadaism, Surrealism, Conceptual art and Expressionism art movement.
4.0: Found object in Philosopher sculpture
A found object is natural or old, fragment of an object that is found and kept by artist because of intrinsic value and interest seen by the artist. At last the found object will be modified and made into its own way of artwork by the artist. (Tate, 2016)
In the sculpture, found objects such as concrete steels are used. The found object does not follow the original man made but rather the crooked and had lost its original form. It also been rusted for too long. But artist decided to use it because of abstract and artistic value of the found object.

Figure 4.1.1: Crooked and rusted steel
The philosopher’s hand is fixed with rusted and crooked steel to distinct it from original steel.
Figure 4.1.2: The ‘Philosopher’
In my opinion, the gesture of hand in the sculpture shows the philosopher is pointing out something which means that he is directing the one in front of him to a bright future. He is also giving information and knowledge as per as his name, philosopher who is good in giving philosophy of life and wise.
The head of philosopher is made by the found object which has different shapes and form. Many cut steels are brought and examined to find the shape that suit well with facial form. After that they are combined to form the head. It does not have a fix shape but rather in a free form. It depends on the viewer’s way of interpreting the head. In my opinion, the head is filled with many wires that come out of head showing the philosopher’s mind is filled with many things and going out to reach others.

Metal is cut into small sized with random geometric shape and scratched with grinder to give the texture. It is fixed in the sculpture to reflect the light and give shining effect.

The Philosopher which has built without head will be transfer to the site. The head will be fixed later.

Woods will be polished, cut flat and reshaped to make the base for the sculpture and to fix it around the sculpture. Small woods will be fixed in between big woods.
